FIRE investigation officers are currently at Gemini retail park after a huge blaze on Saturday evening.

It is not yet known what caused the fire but bosses have said they do not think it was arson.

The flames started on Saturday at 8.25pm on the first floor of Boots before spreading to clothes store Next.

The store opened 11 years ago to the day of the fire on Saturday July 7, 2001. No staff job losses are expected and it is thought all existing Gemini store staff at Boots will be distributed to other stores including Widnes, Warrington or Speke from tomorrow, Tuesday.

A Boots spokesman said: "We can confirm an incident has taken place and we are supporting the police and fire brigade with their investigation."
