A 28-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were both taken to Warrington Hospital to be checked over.

Two people were cut from vehicles following the crash that involved three cars and a lorry, according to officers.

The air ambulance was called along with other emergency crews.

Chester Road was closed in both directions between Runcorn Road and Daresbury Express Way.

Warrington Borough Council’s highways team had put diversion in place via the A49.
