HEALTH bosses have said they expect most GP practices in the town to be unaffected by tomorrow’s (Thursday) doctor’s strike.
The British Medical Association’s planned industrial action means many doctors across the country will only be seeing patients with urgent and emergency appointments in a row over pay.
Dr Andrew Davies, chairman of Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “The BMA has said that doctors will attend their usual workplace on June 21 to carry out all urgent and emergency care.
“However, the union has said that as part of the day of action it will postpone non-urgent care including any consultations or procedures that can be safely delayed.
“We are in contact with local GP practices and are not expecting all of them to take part in the action.”
The Warrington CCG, NHS Warrington, Bridgewater Community NHS Trust and Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said they are working together to minimise disruption to patients and to provide information about where to access treatment if you are unable to see your doctor.
