Dad takes plunge to help hospital

A STOCKTON Heath dad will be making a splash this summer to raise money for the hospital which helped him start a family.

David Marks, of Beech Road, is taking part in a five-mile open water swim in aid of St Mary’s Hospital Charity in Manchester.

David and his wife Geraldine underwent IVF treatment at the hospital in 2009 which resulted in the birth of their son Thomas.

The 39-year-old sales director said: “This is my way of saying thanks to the hospital for giving me the chance to become a dad.”

The first swim took place in London last month, the others are planned for Ipswich, Windermere, Salford Quays and Scotland.
