MUSIC, dance, fairground rides and a massive firework display will take stage at the annual Orford festival on Saturday.

The event will take place from 2pm until late and from 6.30pm includes performance from bands The Animus, The Ambersons, Deadbeats, Sonic Image and The Stocks And at 10pm a ddance and firework piece will mark the close of the festival.

Following a premiere in Chester last month, Cheshire Dance and Walk the Plank will be performing ‘The Moment When’ - a large scale dance piece. It is a flagship project of the Cultural Olympiad in the north west and Big Dance 201.

The Moment When features more than 200 dancers, aerial work, music, a spectacular light show with fire and fireworks.

Cllr Mike Hannon said: “We are really excited about this event and hope that people from the local area and beyond will come down to Orford Park to see both the new building and all that is on offer at the festival. “We think this is the ideal platform to officially launch LiveWire and Culture Warrington and to show the world that It’s all going on in Warrington. “The community festival combined with this special dance piece really embodies what the two trusts are about, doing things differently and making sure Warrington’s at the forefront of innovation and change.”

As in years gone by there will be community stalls, fairground rides, a dog show, skate park displays, Wire FM, sports activities and entertainment from local singers and dance groups. The day is expected to close at 10.45pm.

Council bosses are advising visitors to use public transport to access the site as the hub will be open as usual during the day.

Parking will be available on a first come, first served basis. From 5pm additional parking will be available at the adjoining Warrington Collegiate site.
