Matt's mission to carry torch

A MAN from Orford has become an Olympic torchbearer, carrying the flame through Queensferry on Tuesday.

Matthew Butler, aged 31, was chosen to carry the torch for the volunteer work he did as part of the Personal Best programme.

He was advised to take the north west pre-employment programme linked to volunteering at the 2012 Olympic Games by his Job Centre advisor from Warrington.

Matthew’s skills were talent spotted by The Sport 4 Life team while he was role playing interview skills.

Matthew added: “It was a lot to learn, having been out of work for several years.

“It’s a great honour to carry The Olympic Torch and an experience that will stay with me for years.

“It has inspired me to get active once again.”
