MAKING the dream of opening his own dance centre a reality has been a real family affair for Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson.

The former Birchwood High School pupil shot to fame in 2008 and put street dancing on the map with his unique performances on the ITV show.

Since then he has starred in two feature films and become a regular in BBC show Waterloo Road but the 18-year-old says helping other youngsters learn to dance is something he has always wanted to do.

Access 2 All Areas opened yesterday, Wednesday, for the first classes at the Crown Street dance studios in the town centre with George’s teachers taking the break, street and stage school classes.

He said: “I’m really pleased because it’s exactly how I wanted it to look.

“When I first walked in it was a complete mess and I panicked but my Uncle Shaun has helped build most of it.

“I’ve had my mum (Lesley) in here cleaning and my sister Rosie will be helping to manage it.

“Everyone has worked really hard to help me get it open.”

The studio has been four months in the making and fulfils George’s dream of opening a centre under an archway.

He added: “When I used to busk in Manchester we parked under an archway and wrote Network Rail on a bit of paper to get free parking!

“Ever since then I’ve wanted to teach under an archway and grabbed the chance when this unit was available.

“Everyone was saying do it in London but I wanted it at home with the teachers who taught me to dance.

“It’s nice to give something back and this is more ghetto, urban and free than other places. People can come in, learn a flip or a trick and then go away but I’m hoping they will come back.”

The Streetdance 3D star plans to hold master classes at the end of each month and eventually hopes to create his own crews to enter national talent and dance competitions.

George, who now lives in Gorse Covert and says he loves being back home in Birchwood, added: “This has become my second home and four years ago I couldn’t have imagined being sat in my own place.

“I used to struggle to get £5 to come to places like this and now I’m doing it myself.

“I want people to come here rather than having to dance on the streets.

“It’s been a risk, so we’ll see how it goes but I’m so happy I’ve done it.”
