Research team at smoking debate

A YOUNG peer research team from Warrington attended a smoking debate in Media City last week to discuss the impact of cigarette packaging.
More than 70 14 to 17 year-olds from the north west attended the Salford event, to debate whether the UK should adopt plain packets for cigarettes.
It included workshops and speeches from smoking experts.
The Watching Me, Watching You event was part of Smoke and Mirrors, a Tobacco Free Futures project, encouraging young people to look at tobacco harm differently.
Dr Rita Robinson, director of public health for Warrington, said: “It is encouraging to know that young people from the area were given an opportunity to voice their opinions about a subject that many feel passionate about.
“Smoking harms so many young people in our communities and it is important that we do as much as we can to keep it at the forefront of people’s minds.
Their views will be part of the Government’s public consultationcigarette packaging.
