A CULCHETH man who left a pub goer needing 15 stitches after headbutting him will not be jailed.
Warrington Crown Court heard on Tuesday how Gary Caple, of Severn Road, joked about the assault that took place in the town centre Jam Venue bar.
The 24-year-old reacted to ‘banter’ by headbutting his victim in December 2010.
He was left with a large gash across his left eye that needed hospital treatment.
Caple, who has a previous conviction for violence in 2006, loses his temper ‘violently and quickly’, according to Judge John Curran.
He said: “Witnesses said you thought it was a joke, that it was funny.
“You are a big strapping lad and this is a disgrace to you.
“It’s in a bar where other people can see what happens and are disgusted by it.
“You were less than open, less than frank about what happened.
“You said that you were the victim, surrounded by a pack of wolves.
“Nothing could be further from the truth.”
Caple was given a nine month prison sentence suspended for two years.
He will do 200 hours unpaid work and is subject to a four month curfew between 9pm and 7am.
An order to pay £1,500 in compensation was also made.

Obviously not learned anything from the first time round.
