FANS will get their first chance to see the new-look Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday.

Warrington Wolves entertain London Broncos in the first home game of the 2012 Super League season.

And there will be a new look, with the capacity rising to 15,500.

Work, which started in the late summer, has seen extra seats added to the north east quarter of the stadium and more standing room introduced in the south east.

Chairman Steven Broomhead said he was delighted with the results.

He said: “Our philosophy is one of continuous improvement and that is we we have done with the stadium.

“It is a challenge to fill it but it shows our ambition in increasing the capacity.

“When we moved to The Halliwell Jones we did not know whether we could fill that.

“But we have increased our average attendance from 4,500 at Wilderspool to just over 11,000.

“The saying is, build it and they will come.”

He added that a good cup run would also help the balance sheet and said the aim for this season was to win both trophies, the Super League and the Challenge Cup.

“In the business plan we would never budget for a trip to Wembley so it is a bonus to get there. But the ambition remains to win both.”

Chief executive Andy Gatcliffe said: “The new stands look great. The fans put me under pressure to make this investment and now they need to do the same to put me under pressure to start the next stage of the development.

“It is great for Salford and St Helens to have new grounds we are still way ahead of them.”
