TWO brothers are hoping for literary success after launching their first book on Amazon.

Rob and Chris Grey decided to try writing a novel in April of last year.

Rob, of Mill Close, Cinnamon Brow, had just finished reading a John Grisham novel.

The 46-year-old said: “I usually like his books but the last one I read wasn’t good at all. I said to Chris that I could do better so I sent him a chapter and he came up with a whole story.

“His idea was better so we started sending ideas to each other.”

Previous Time Lucky centres on Bobby, an American teenager desperate to fund his mother’s medical treatment.

Resigned to a dead-end job, he stumbles upon an invention that enables him to cheat money out of the mafia.

Bobby is then rumbled and has to outsmart the vengeful mobsters.

B&Q worker Rob admitted that getting the book finished was hard work.

The father-of-two said: “Our proof reader said that the start was too slow and our sister pointed out things that should have been blindingly obvious.

“You have to take it on the chin.”

After the brothers struggled to get a publishing deal, they turned to the online market.

The novel was published on Amazon six weeks ago under the name Chris Robb.

It can be downloaded to a computer, smart phone or tablet for £1.71. They have sold 50 copies so far.

The duo hope to follow in the footsteps of fellow e-authors in the area – Conrad Jones and Simon Gould.

IT and English teacher Chris, aged 49, of Wiltshire Close, Woolston, said: “We have already outlined a sequel, and have plot ideas for another five novels.”
