HUNDREDS of Father Christmases were seen in Birchwood on Sunday for an annual Santa Dash.

The event was held to raise money for Brainwave in the town.

People from across the north west took part to raise money for the charity which provides therapy programmes for children with disabilities such as autism and cerebral palsy.

Pete Pinnington from Wire FM led a Santa jive warm-up while Brainwave ambassadors Wolves centre Ryan Atkins and Paralympian hopeful Adrian Derbyshire encouraged participants as they ran a circular route through the shopping centre and into Birchwood Forest Park.

Joanne Freeman, community fundraising manager at Brainwave, said: “I was delighted to see so many people showing their support for the local Brainwave centre.

“Despite the wet conditions, everyone got into the festive spirit and had great fun.

“The money raised from the dash will be used to fund our therapy centre in Warrington and help many more children reach their full potential.”
