ST Mary’s Roman Catholic Church will promote the National Heritage Open Days scheme this weekend by opening its doors to visitors.

The church dates back to 1877 and is often considered to be a “hidden gem” of the town.

Alongside information displays, parish exhibitions and quizzes for the children a new addition to the building, the Catholic Culture Centre, will exhibit 21st Century Catholic literature, art and music to the public.

The church on Buttermarket Street will open its doors between 10am until noon on Friday and 2pm until 4pm on Saturday for visitors to experience this inspiring cultural heritage .
