Warrington MP David Mowat speaks out over Scottish funding

MP David Mowat MP David Mowat

DAVID Mowat has been highlighting the difference in funding between England and Scotland in the national media this week.

The Warrington South MP, who sits on the Scottish Affair Select Committee, spoke out as figures showed the average family in England have to pay an extra £420 in tax for services Scottish people receive for free such as prescriptions, personal care for the elderly and university tuition.

The Conservative MP said: “I’m delighted that this issue is now receiving the national attention it deserves. I’ve been saying for over a year now that people in Warrington are getting a raw deal and now it seems that more and more people are starting to realise just how unfair the current system is.

“My work on the Scottish Affairs Select Committee has highlighted a number of examples of people in Warrington suffering because of the Barnett formula. The new Runcorn Bridge will have to be tolled, yet the Government have bent over backwards to help the Scottish Government avoid a toll. We simply cannot continue with the failed policy of the last Labour Government.”

Just another example of why it's basically illegal to be English. Nobody needs reminding of how much a Scottish unelected idiot Prime Minister has wrecked the country, both as Chancelor of the Exchequer and PM, Iwonder why this was even allowed to happen because English people can't sit in the Scottish Parliament so why can Scottish people not only sit in English Parliament but also be allowed to become PM? No wonder Mr Brown is basically in hiding he should be ashamed of himself and the least he could give us is an apology. Not one Labour MP has apologised cause they're to busy criticising the new Government. They've got really bad memories cause it's them that allowed the country to get in such a mess! Just wish one of them would say sorry for what they collectively did but i think the Pope would turn Muslim before that happened. One last point is Mr Brown was 1 of the offenders in the expense scandal, pretty much sums him up as an untrustworthy PM. If i see or hear of him again it'll be to soon he's a horrible man and in future ihope the English Parliament will be like the Scottish one for English only so we don't have MPs working to a shady agenda to improve their own country instead of the one that pays them and the one they steal off!
