A CIRCUS which has hit the national headlines in recent weeks over the abuse of one of its animals is in Glazebury this week.

The Bobby Roberts Super Circus opened on land alongside the Greyhound Roundabout on the East Lancashire Road at Glazebury, yesterday, Wednesday.

Protesters picketed the circus after footage filmed by Animal Defenders International showed a 58-year-old Asian elephant, Anne being hit with a pitchfork by a worker.

She has since been rehomed at Longleat Safari Park.

The circus said following the footage coming to light they shared animal campaigners’ outrage at the footage and they were isolated incidents when Bobby Roberts was not on site.

I'm metaphorically honking my horn for the protesters now!
Please don't support these abusive circuses - support the protesters and, more importantly, the ANIMALS still trapped inside.

A peaceful demonstration will take place everyday before each show. Please remember that there are still animals left in this hell hole, the video footage shows the horses being abused as well. We must continue our fight to end circus's with animals they are outdated and cruel. Bobby and Moira Roberts should be ashamed of themselves they are disgraceful, dispicable people. Anne the elephant is not an isolated incident it has over the years been a catalogue of abuse. Well at last people are turning their backs on the sick circus, Bobby Roberts is failing miserably as not many people have turned up either at Knutsford or Leigh. We must continue the fight for the animals.
