A exhibition celebrating body art has opened at Warrington Museum.

Body Beautiful, which runs until June 11, explores how different cultures have modified and decorated their bodies throughout history.

The exhibition looks at how some of these permanent changes are made and why.

Many different societies and cultures practice body art or body modification and they do it for a wide variety of reasons.

The exhibition is free and the museum is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4.30pm, Saturdays 10am to 4pm.

It is closed Sundays and bank holidays.
