WIVES and girlfriends of the Warrington Wolves players went head-to-head in a cup final Come Dine With Me.

The team’s nutritionist Wal Herring, from Leicester based Wal’s Nutrition, tasked the seven women to make three nutritious snacks to give their men an energy boost in the run up to the final.

She challenged Vicky Hall, Lee Briers’ girlfriend, Shelley Wood, Paul Wood’s wife and Aimee Podmore, Kevin Penny’s fiancee, to make salmon frittata.

A quinoa salad with marinated chicken recipe was given to Clare Richards, captain Adrian Morley’s girlfriend, Kate Higham, Mickey Higham’s wife and staff from Warrington Wolves to prepare.

And Seini Anderson and Krishna Anderson, the wives of brothers Vinnie and Louis Anderson, made a ricotta dessert.

Wal said her recipes push protein rather than carbohydrates.

Chris Baron, Wolves’ head of strength and conditioning, was on hand to offer advice to the women.

He said he had been preparing the squad for the final since October.

The final training session before Saturday’s clash will take place today, Thursday, and will involve speed work and a strength and power session.

The quinoa salad came out trumps with the women with 18, in second place was the salmon frittata with 15 and the Andersons secured third place with a score of 10 for the dessert.
