WHILE all headline news broke out around him at Wilderspool Paul Cullen just got on with the job of preparing the Wolves for Sunday's Super League battle with Oldham Bears.

The club's new assistant coach said: "All that has been in my mind is preparing the first and second teams for two tough games against Oldham this week. That's it, full stop.

"All the political decisions of who goes, who comes, is of no concern because we must not let the momentum fall flat after the Wigan win. We must not let the fans down now.

"My call to the team this week is 'Same again and more'. We've only got two points in the bag and want and need more."

Cullen, in charge of the side against Wigan with help from Alex Murphy, did not allow Monday's winning euphoria take over the players' lives this week.

Cullen said: "We had the players in on Tuesday morning for a very tough fitness session. We then went into the gym and did another one.

"They've well and truely worked hard and had to earn their rest day on Wednesday."

Cullen has had the team working on defending from kicks, as Wigan scored four from kicks on Monday.

He says: "We have had a problem with that. Oldham boss Andy Goodway and other coaches in the league can all study videos just the same as us so we need to get that right."

Team news sees Salesi Finau back in contention after recovering from hamstring trouble but Toa Kohe-Love will again miss Sunday's game with ankle ligament damage.

Cullen says: "I am looking to start with the same 13 as the Wigan game. Chris Rudd and Gareth Davies will be on the bench with two more to come out of the A team game (last night, Thursday.)

Team to face Oldham, kick off 3pm: Penny; Henare, Roper, Vagana, Forster; Shelford, Duffy; Chambers, Hulme, Stevens, Tatupu, Mann, Sculthorpe.

Warrington have released Dallas Mead this week after further problems with his knee injury that has been troubling him. He will be returning to New Zealand.

Conditioning coach and development officer Nigel Ashley-Jones left the club on Monday, following John Dorahy's departure. Ashley-Jones has accepted a similar role at Wigan.

Former Wolves' assistant coach Robert Tew was appointed the new boss of Workington Town on Tuesday.

He is expected to be taking some Warrington players to Derwent Park on loan, possibly Andy Bennett being one of them.

On Wednesday (the date has been changed), Warrington Wolves Alliance will be at home to Wigan A in the final of the Alliance Challenge Cup. The game will kick off at 7.30pm.

A large crowd is expected to see Warrington with another chance of beating the arch enemy from Central Park.
