AN APPEAL has been launched to raise money for new community woodland in Callands.
The plot at the corner of Goldcliffe Close and Newbridge Close was originally owned by the Commission for New Towns and was earmarked for building development.
A campaign by residents resulted in the land being transferred to Warrington Borough Council who asked the Woodland trust to plant and maintain the site.
The Millennium Commission, the grant-giving arm of the National Lottery, are providing half the money needed to replant the area, which leaves £6,500 still to be raised. Anyone wishing to get involved should attend a meeting at Callands Community Centre on Tuesday, April 8, at 7.30pm.
