I AM 45 and my parents were in the war; my father in the R.A.F. and my mother in the women's Land Army.

I have always been reasonably patriotic - I try to buy British whenever I can, although sometimes it is difficult, especially when buying audio and outdoor equipment, either the home grown article is hard to find or is 4-5 times the price of the imported one.

However nowadays even more articles in the shop seem to be imported, chocolate, beer, socks, underwear... the list goes on. Friends who have been to France tell me that this is not the case in France, almost everything, apart from odd items like Scotch whisky and stilton cheese is a local product.

I would like to make two points:

1. On Saturday I shall be listening and watching the Last Night of the Proms with some English Farmhouse Cheese and a glass, or five, of English cider to quench my thirst.

2. My late Uncle worked for the firm where the "I'm Backing Britian" originated in 1966. Is it time for revival?

Do any other readers agree with me or am I odd, pedantic or in a minority of one?
