FLUID rugby by Rylands won the day. Risley was the man of the match and Walker was top tackler. Morrow took the special award.

RYLANDS' early 10 point advantage was lost in a hard fought second half. C. Forster and P. Keenan scored tries while C. White kicked a goal. Man of the match was P. Keenan, top tackler L. Caldwell and special award winner D. Forster.

WOOLSTON maintained their unbeaten run with a well-earned victory against tough opposition. Tries from Simpson-Adkins, Maddock and Cunniffe. Goals from Bagley and Cornelia.

GRIFFINS came back from 20-4 down. Tries were scored by Stout, two, Garvey, Flint, Farrell, Povey and Hutchinson, with three conversions coming from Hutchinson. Best for Griffins were Tobin, Hutchinson, Lester.

TRIES either side of half-time by Chris Gordon and Ian Stephenson turned this closely fought game Crosfields' way. Paul Oultram added both goals and a drop goal.

Rangers hit back with two tries and it took some desperate defence in the closing stages to earn victory.

Chris Sawyer had a fine game in attack while Graeme Leadbetter worked hard in defence.

SOAP opened the scoring with an early try by Alcock but the turning point of the game was after the second try by Kilshaw. Play was then completely dominated by Crosfields. It was an outstanding team performance.

Try scorers were Alcock, Forbes, Grant, Kilshaw, Mellor and Simpson. Four goals were kicked by Mellor.

WARRINGTON Schools Under 16s team put up a much stronger performance than on their previous visit to Mount Pleasant but succumbed to simple errors.

Paul Alcock scored Warrington's only try and Chris Mellor kicked the goal. There were strong performances from Mike Callan, Alan Kilshaw and captain Liam McArthy.

ALTHOUGH Warrington Schools' u13 team lost this first round championship game against an undefeated Wigan side they did create problems for the home team and made them concede their only try in any game this season.

Losing 22-0 at half-time Warrington actually won the second half 6-4 with a try from Craig Heslop and a goal from Duane Whalley.
