A HIGH profile appeal to help track down a violent robber who has targeted Warrington's elderly has so far failed to provide any strong leads.

Photographic stills were released in the GUARDIAN, as well video footage on regional television, in a bid to trace a man who was filmed shortly before one of the raids in the Hale Street area.

Officers have received a number of phone calls regarding the man captured on film but none have proved significant as yet.

Detective Sergeant Andy Southcott, who is leading the hunt, is remaining positive that they will catch the man.

"So far we have had nothing concrete but we are remaining optimistic that someone will identify him.

The offences he has committed have been quite horrific and we're still appealing for anyone who may recognise the man to contact us immediately."

He is described as between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins tall, aged in his 30s with short brown hair.

He was wearing a navy blue nylon-style anorak with a padded collar, dark tracksuit bottoms and Adidas trainers.

If you have any information on the robberies, contact DS Southcott on 01244 613 867 or call the Crimestoppers hot-line on 0800 555 111.
