Alsager - 0 Holker Old Boys - 0

ALSAGER AFC celebrated their first match in the North West Trains Division 2 with a well-earned draw against relegated Holker Old Boys.

Holker had the first opportunity to take the lead after ten minutes when a steady build-up ended in a Hudson strike that Camm managed to clear off the line.

Alsager's best chance of the half came on 23 minutes as Faint received the ball on the left and played a great pass into the path of Donaldson who hit a tremendous shot from 20 yards, forcing an outstanding save from Hoyland.

On the stroke of half time, Alsager could have gone in front as O'Toole ran through the Holker defence but his shot was deflected wide.

Both defences stood firm for the remainder with the match ending all square.

Manager Steve Booth was delighted with the point. "I am happy with a point against a relegated team, it was important not to lose our first match." he said.

Alsager entertain Blackpool Mechanics this Saturday.

Alsager took all the points in a 3-2 thriller at Castleton Gabriels on Tuesday night. Rowe, Lawton and Donaldson were the hitmen.
