STAFF at Bridgemere Garden World were celebrating last week after scooping a top award and raising money for charity.

The centrepiece garden at the Royal Horticultural Society's Flower Show in Tatton Park was designed by Bridgemere and won a gold award and Best Show Garden.

Generous visitors to the garden helped to raise £6,976 for the Christies Against Cancer Appeal.

A collection urn had been placed in the show garden and was unveiled by Christies' patron The Duke of Westminster, on the first day of the show.

It was filled with public donations which totalled £5,771 and a further £1,205 was raised through a raffle.

Chairman and founder of Bridgemere, John Ravenscroft, said: "When we were approached by Christies we were only too happy to help in whatever way we could.

"I am overwhelmed by our visitors generosity and know that the contributions will be put to excellent use. This has certainly been the icing on the cake of a magnificently successful show."

Angela Roden, director of appeals for Christies, said: "We are thrilled by the amount that has been collected, it certainly exceeded all our expectations. We would like to thank Bridgemere for their continued support."
