WORK is to start next week on a new 20 mile an hour zone with traffic calming in the West End of Crewe.
The work begins on Monday and will mean some roads in the area are closed off for up to two days.
The zone will cover Vernon Way, Badger Avenue, West Street and Ford Lane with traffic calming consisting of speed ramps, rumble strips, road markings and speed limit signs.
The affected streets are: Meredith Street, Ludford Street, Adelaide Street, Alban Street, Stafford Street, Rigg Street, Fletcher Street, Elizabeth Street, Casson Street, Broad Street, Ford Close, Roebuck Street, Dewes Street, Rose Terrace and Market Street.
A council spokesman said: "The works will be undertaken using a series of road closures to ensure the safety of the contractor, residents and road users.
"In most cases only one road will be closed at a time. Access for residents' vehicles during the closure period will be maintained where possible and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times."
