FINDING the right nutrition in the maze of modern food information which is available is a daunting task, and increasing numbers of people are taking professional advice to make sure they feed their families and themselves correctly.

Carol Fisher, a nutrition consultant based at the Cross Clinic, Lymm, puts people on the right track, and helps them to lose weight if they need it, with her "X-plan", specially tailored to individual needs.

She is giving away three free consultations to our readers.

"People in general eat too many refined carbohydrates," said Carol, who favours vegetables, fruit, pulses, wholemeal bread and oats.

She also encourages people to eat more lean meat, fish and nuts.

"There is evidence from the World Health Organisation that anaemia is widespread ," said Carol. "One in four teenagers is anaemic. The problem is more prevalent in women. Often, they have what they feel is a healthy diet.

"If children haven't got enough iron it can lead to hyperactivity or poor clarity of thought. A lot of people need a re-think."

Carol pays particular attention to the "apple shaped" figure, which can lead to diabetes later in life, caused by over eating of foods such as refined carbohydrates, sugars and saturated fats, and also too much coffee or alcohol.

For this type of problem, a diet of lean protein and vegetables, some fruit and nuts, with one glass of wine a day allowed, would be along the right lines.

"It's a fat burning diet and it's very successful. People feel so much more energetic", said Carol.

She has been practising for five years, at various locations in addition to the Cross Clinic, and she has a string of qualifications. She is currently doing a degree in nutritional medicine, the first of its kind.

Carol charges £45 for an initial consultation and eating plan, and £35 for any follow up consultations which are necessary.

She will provide a free consultation, with an eating plan, for the first three readers who contact her.
