THIS year is going from strength to strength for Warrington Kick Boxing Studio's amateur fighter Graham Sayer.

He won the English middleweight title against Birmingham's Keiron Kelly on a show hosted by his own club.

After five rounds it was a close contest but Sayer was successful as his fitness and work rate in the last round gave him the edge on points.

This success adds to Sayer passing his black belt examination in February and winning the AKA North West Counties title in March.

There were 20 bouts in total on Saturday and seven other Warrington boxers won their bouts. They were welterweight Karen Hughes, middleweights Nick Hughes, Andy Glover and Mark Woods; cruiserweights Lee Sanderson and Gavin Hall plus heavyweight Nathan Joyce. Draws were achieved by welterweight Helen Jones and cruiserweights Andy Mason and Phil Ball.

Warrington Kick Boxing Studio's next amateur competition will be in July when hopefully Sayer will defend his title.
