RSPCA look for owners for injured cat in Burtonwood

A LONG-HAIRED tabby cat is looking for his owners after losing one of his nine lives impaling himself on railings at the end of Fairclough Street, Burtonwood.

RSPCA inspectors rescued the young adult male cat, who has been dubbed Lucky, after it was thought he slipped on the ice and fell.

Inspector Ann Marie Atherton said: “He’s a lovely cat but he hasn’t been microchipped so we can’t trace his owners.

“He’s in good condition so I think there must be an owner out there somewhere who will be worried and looking for him.”

The tabby, who has been neutered, was taken to Beech House vets, Wilderspool Causeway, and is described as doing well by staff.

Nikki Butterworth, Beech House nurse, said: “He’s had to have his hind right leg amputated after the fall but he’s doing really well so fingers crossed we can get him back to his owner now.”

Ann Marie added: “The vets have been very kind looking after Lucky.

“It was awful seeing him in pain so it’s great to hear he’s on the mend.”

Ann Marie believes this should serve as a reminder to pet owners to get their animals microchipped.

She said: “If he had been microchipped we could have contacted his owners straight away.

“The same day I picked up Lucky I went to a call after a cat had collapsed and we managed to contact the owner instantly thanks to the microchip.”

The owner, or anyone who has any information, has been encouraged to contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
