Tributes to devoted charity worker Joy James

A DEDICATED charity supporter has died after more than 30 years of fundraising.

Joy James, from Culcheth, died peacefully, aged 87, last month.

She had spent many years working on behalf of the Arthritis Research Campaign (arc), Britain’s fourth largest medical research charity.

Joy established four branches of the charity in Culcheth, Croft, Eccles and Stretford, which together have raised more than £80,000 for vital research work.

Ruth Owen, regional fundraising manager for arc, said: “Joy ate, drank and slept arc.”

“I was full of admiration for the work Mrs James did for the charity over so very many years.

“She was a wonderful supporter and will be missed by all who met her.”
