ROCK ‘n’ roll band Slydigs have secured one of their biggest gigs to date after being asked to support american band The New York Dolls on Wednesday, December 9 at the O2 Academy in Liverpool.
The group, who all met in school in Warrington, are being tipped as one of the north west’s best unsigned bands after supporting punk band The Fall last month.
Jim Fairhurst, band manager, said: “I think 2010 could be their year.
“When the crowd were leaving The Fall gig there was only one band they were talking about and that’s what led to The Dolls management asking them to warm up the crowd for them too.”
The St Aelreds act made up of Dean Fairhurst, Louis Menguy, Adam Thornton and Pete Fleming succesfully secured funding for a top class website in the new year as well as plans to record a demo cd in London.
Having already supported Idlewild, the band warmed up for the 2,000 strong crowd at The Dolls gig by playing at Manchester’s Moho Live where their dedicated fans gave them a great reception.
Jim added: “They’ve got a magnificent following and have always had a first class reaction at gigs.
“They’re looking forward to playing and becoming the best thing to come out of Warrington since The Stone Roses.”
Playing their own unique brand of rock music, the band are hoping a succesful gig will help secure them a number of spots on the festival circuit next year.
