Police law trainer lost his job after becoming aroused

A SPIRITUALIST "ghostbuster" lost his job as a police law trainer because he got sexually aroused during a role play, a tribunal heard.

Alan Power, aged 62, from Birkenhead, was playing the part of an arrested shoplifter during a session at Bruche police training college in Woolston in 2004 but he became visibly aroused during the search, the tribunal in Manchester heard.

Mr Power, who says he has seen ghosts since childhood, was seeking compensation for hurt feelings after claiming he was forced out of his job with Greater Manchester Police in 2008 because of his spiritual beliefs.

But the tribunal ruled on Tuesday he was not a victim of discrimination.

The pony-tailed claimant had first came into contact with the police in about 2004 and was given permission to conduct research for a dissertation on 'police residential probationary training' at Bruche as part of a Masters Degree programme in Criminal Justice.

It was during these sessions he was ‘disruptive’ and allegedly aroused as he was frisked.

Setting out his case, Mr Power portrayed himself as someone in a long line of people who have been persecuted for having "the ability that dare not speak its name".

But evidence was heard that he was fired for his alleged inappropriate behaviour with GMP denying discrimination.
