A CHARITY radio station set up by the widow of murdered Garry Newlove as a legacy to the dad-of-three has been nominated for an award.

Newlove FM, part of Newlove Warrington which was founded by Helen Newlove in a bid to make the town safer, will be competing against The North West Regional Development Agency and NHS Halton and St Helens at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) North West PRide Awards on Wednesday.

The Awards, held at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel, will be hosted by BBC North West Tonight’s Dianne Oxberry.

The campaign to promote Warrington community radio station Newlove FM has been recognised with a nomination in the Not-for-Profit category for de Winter Marketing who looked after the project.

The Newlove FM entry will be going up against NHS Halton and St Helens in the same category for its ‘Get Checked Cancer Campaign’ while the Warrington-based communications team at the North West Regional Development Agency is nominated for Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team and also for its 315° magazine in Best Newspaper or Magazine.

Dianne will compere the evening celebrating the best of the best in the North West’s communications and PR industry.

During the evening money will be raised to help those with learning difficulties in the region through this year’s chosen charity Mencap.
