Jeremy Kyle adds celebrity chapter to group's West Side Story

CHAT show host Jeremy Kyle will be taking a rare seat in the audience for a Warrington theatre company’s production after meeting the cast on the set of his programme.

A group of actors from the Centenary Theatre Company, which is based in Appleton and has been performing for more than 108 years in and around the Warrington area, went to Granada Studios at the end of last month to watch The Jeremy Kyle Show being filmed.

During a break in the production Jeremy singled out cast member David Newell for having large spikey hair, which he was grooming in preparation for their forthcoming production of West Side Story at The Brindley Theatre, in Runcorn.

Maria Dumencic, marketing director for the company, said: “Jeremy commented that David had very spikey hair and looked like the twins out of XFactor to which David said he had to have it like that because of a performance.

“It all happened by chance really as he started talking to us and Kate Cooper, the main dancer in the show, was invited to do a dance on stage.

“Jeremy Kyle then said he would come to the show.

“He said he keeps his promises and would be at our opening night on November 17.”

The Warrington theatre company, which has won many awards, will be performing Leonard Bernstein's musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in New York City, from Tuesday, November 17 to Saturday, November 21.

Maria added: “It’s one of the biggest productions we have done. I was star struck when he was speaking to us because I’m a typical student and watch his show every day.

“I will be very nervous because it’s the first time I have got a singing part but it will be very exciting.”

Tickets are available from the company’s website or the box office on 0151 9078360.
