MENTAL health care in the town has won the approval of the Secretary of State for Health, Andy Burnham.
Mr Burnham met with users and staff at 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust last month at Leigh Sports Village.
“Mental health staff are often the unsung heroes of the NHS, working with some of the most vulnerable people in society and helping them to have a better quality of life and a more independent life,” he said.
“I am very proud of this trust. It just keeps getting better and better. It’s genuinely fantastic to hear about the work going on and the dedication of staff, which continuously improves the patient experience.
“The involvement of service-users and carers at this event really illustrates the trust’s commitment to putting service users at the heart of everything they do.
“Health really is where my heart is and this is a great opportunity to thank all the staff at this trust for the amazing work they do, on behalf of all my constituents.”
Simon Barber, chief executive of 5 Boroughs, added: “It was great to have Andy here in his new role as Secretary of State for Health.
“Andy has given the trust fantastic support over the years and all of our staff are thrilled that he was able to come along and give further recognition to the work they do.”
