A DRUG and alcohol rehab clinic has celebrated the successes of its graduates at an event at its Sankey Street base as part of National Tackling Drugs Week.
Trust The Process Counselling offers residential and day care rehabilitation programmes based on the 12 step treatment model for alcoholism and addiction pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous.
Tom Kirkwood, chief executive and reformed alcoholic and drug user, said: “Addiction affects society in various ways. Recovery means a massive reduction in crime. Families and relationships can be restored, there is a huge health care impact and homelessness and unemployment will improve.”
He added: “I’ve been recovered for six years and a lot of people who work here, including my fellow director, are in active recovery as well.
“It earns us credibility with our clients – we made a conscious decision to change our lives and become abstinent and we show them how to do it – it’s the power of leading by example.”
