BRENTFORD have parted with one striker in Jide Olugbodi, but got another back on loan in Leicester City's Tommy Wright, who will be in the team for Saturday's Division Two visit to Stockport if he overcomes an ankle injury.

Unfortunately, Leicester boss Micky Adams, a former Brentford manager, may only allow Wright to stay at Griffin Park another 17 days until December 29.

To make matters worse for Brentford manager Wally Downes, the cash-strapped club look likely to sell a couple of players after missing out on a possible windfall in the FA Cup by losing to non-leaguers Telford in the second round last Saturday.

Goalkeeper Paul Smith, who has trained with Spurs and Southampton recently, and centre-half Ibrahima Sonko could fetch big offers when the January transfer window opens.

Downes says: "If we get the right offer and the player concerned wants to leave then it would be good business to sell him. It will make my job harder, and I don't know how much would be available to me to buy replacements if Smith or Sonko went for big money."

If Wright departs at the end of the month Downes may give recent signings Matt Harrold or Alex Rhodes a run in the side.

Downes, who has kept tabs on Reading striker Darius Henderson, comments: "I can either get someone in on loan or give the youngsters a chance."

Nigerian Olugbodi, 26, has left Brentford because Downes decided not to extend his monthly contract. Olugbodi made five appearances for the Bees, four as substitute, after joining them in October following a trial.

His departure coincides with the return of Wright, who has come back earlier than expected from Dubai with England Under 20s as they were knocked out of the FIFA World Youth Championship.

The 19-year-old Wright made nine league appearances in his first spell with Brentford, scoring twice, and will be competing with Ben May and Jay Tabb for a place at Stockport tomorrow.

Despite turning his ankle on his first day back in training on Wednesday, Wright is expected to be fit. Joel Kitamirike should also have recovered from a swollen knee, but midfielder Eddie Hutchinson is likely to be ruled out for another three weeks by his ankle ligament injury.
