Freemasons give £1,000 to Bobby

THE Warrington freemasons donated £1,000 to Bobby Brown's appeal for sight after reading about his condition.

Vic Charlesworth, the care officer for the Warrington Group of Masonic Lodges, was shown a letter asking for help for Bobby and immediately swung into action. Group chairman Ian Boswell contacted other officers and within hours it had been agreed to make a donation of £1,000 from the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity.

Ian said: “I am delighted that we have been able to act so speedily and hope that the target can be reached so that Bobby can receive the treatment he needs.”

The Masonic Province of Cheshire is also making a £250 donation.

The Runcorn Masonic Lodge gave £300, the Provincial Grand Conclave Cheshire and North Wales gave £250, the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cheshire gave £250 and the Castle Rock Lodge in Runcorn gave £100, said George Hughes, immediate post master of the Runcorn Masonic Lodge.

In addition to the money, the freemasons gave Bobby a teddy bear from its collection of TLC bears.

The bears are usually distributed to children's hospitals and children are allowed to keep them.

They gave a bear to Bobby with the hope that it will be one of the first things he sees when he wakes up after his operation.
