The 42-year-old from Woolston was in collision with a Range Rover Sport at 10.52am near to the roundabout at the junction of the A50 Kingsway North and Farrell Street.

The mother-of-three died from multiple injuries at Warrington Hospital where she worked as a support worker in women's and children's services.

Her 46-year-old husband was also in collision with the car and was taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition ans is being treated for leg and pelvic injuries.

Pinned to a bunch of roses one simply read: "Mummy.x."

Another card on a bunch of flowers read: "Hi. Once seen, never forgotten. You will be sorely missed."

At North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust's annual general meeting today chief executive Catherine Beardshaw paid tribute to Mrs Corless on behalf of all her colleagues.

"She was the epitome of what we would want in our staff," she said.

"She was cheerful, she worked hard and she got things done.

"We are devastated by what happened to Sharon and her husband and our thoughts are with her husband and her children.

"We will do everything we can to support that family in the future," she said.

Police are investigating whether the 35-year-old woman driver from Fearnhead was using her mobile at the time of the accident, which also saw her collide with a red Peugeot 307.

She has been released on police bail until November 14, pending further investigation.
