THREE men have been arrested for engaging in sexual activity in Lyme Street public toilets.

Police are now conducting daily patrols of these and others toilets around the town after numerous complaints from members of the public about sexual acts taking place.

On June 30, a 55-year-old man from Warrington and a 37-year-old man from Widnes were arrested at around 3pm for engaging in sexual activity in the toilet after being witnessed in the act by a uniform officer who was patrolling the area following reports from the public.

Both men admitted the offence and received cautions.

A third man, a 29-year-old from Chester, was arrested last Wednesday for outraging public decency but was later released without any charges.

Sergeant Paul Whitehead said: “We want to get the message across that this sort of activity is not acceptable and anyone found to be engaging in such behaviour is liable to arrest.”
