A GROUP of 80 pensioners marched through Blackpool to voice their opinion on poverty.

The Army of members from the Warrington Pensioners group attended the three day Pensioners Parliament conference at Blackpool's Winter Gardens from June 3 to the 5.

They made their presence known to residents and tourists for the 16th year by chanting, waving flags and holding placards about the issues affecting elderly people.

A banner from the group was proudly attached to the front of the upper circle in the venue showing their support for the national Pensioners Convention that campaigns against ageism.

Peter Hunt, chairman of Warrington Pensioners, aged 68, said: "Things won't change unless we have these conferences and take things into the public."

"I am one of those people that thinks if you moan about something you have to do something about it."

Some key issues raised were pensioner poverty, the cost of fuel and abolishing prejudice against the elderly.
