Teenager struck with crowbar in town centre attack

POLICE have released more details after a teenager received a two-inch gash to the back of his head when he was hit with a crowbar in Warrington town centre yesterday morning.
Police believe an argument between two groups took place on Academy Street shortly before 5am.
The row finished and one of the groups left the scene. The other group, which included a 19-year-old man from St Helens and an 18-year-old woman from the Prescot area, continued along the street towards the former Kwik Save building.
Shortly afterwards a blue Mercedes drove past the pair and stopped by the side of the road.
A man got out of the car and hit the 19-year-old over the head with the weapon. The woman was also struck with the crowbar before the man got back in the car, which drove off.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment, as the two-inch gash needed glueing shut. He was discharged along with the woman, who was bruised in the attack.

Police say they have no description of the attackers at this stage.
