Chain of events funds church links

A PROJECT linking two Latchford church buildings together is finally bearing fruit thanks to the dedication of parishioners.
Work is now under way at Latchford Baptist Church to create a new entrance to link the main church builidng to the church hall.
The Link Project has been in the pipeline for five years and now, thanks to grants from Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) and the Historic Cheshire Churches Preservation Trust, the work has started.
However, the small congregation at the Loushers Lane church have played a large part in helping to raise the rest of the money for the project to go ahead.
Carol Ratcliffe, church secretary, said: "We had to raise half of the money ourselves and we are only a small church.
"We have been meaning to do this for five years and we are actually about to do it now. We have been thinking up wacky ways to raise funds. We are almost there."
Among the events organised were charity concerts, and weekly homemade cake and marmalade sales at church.
"We are eating quite well at church at the moment," added Mrs Ratcliffe.
The church was given a grant of £24,600 from WREN funding and £5,000 from the Historic Cheshire Churches Preservation Trust to help with the redevelopment.
Another scheme to raise funds is the churches Buy a Brick to Build the Link' scheme, which allows people donate money to buy for a church brick.
"All of the members will be recorded in a book for prosperity and stored in the church archives," said Mrs Ratcliffe.
The new link will offer better access to the building and will make it easier for people to move between the two halls.
