Lymm 5 Chester 27.
LYMM Rugby Club's North Two West season ended with a home defeat against league and cup winners Chester.
The Lymm coaching staff will have been immensely proud of their charges in the second half, which Lymm won 5-0, but they will reflect on a disappointing campaign that has seen 40 players appear in the first XV. Only two players appeared in every game.
Lymm's season ended in typical fashion against Chester with spells of superb defence, scintillating back play and exceptional work ethic interspersed with poor discipline and nervous handling.
Chester scored five tries in 24 minutes during the first half as they built up a 27-0 lead.
A lovely move from the pack ended with the effervescent Ashley Rockey scoring Lymm's solitary try after the interval.
Lymm: Adam Cox, Bobby Gould, Danny Bates, John McPartland, Darius Miksys, John Millington, Ashley Rockey, Mark Sutton, Chris Kinsey, Paul Thatcher, Jack Johnston, Adam Fletcher, Daniel Naylor, Richard Butler, Luke Johnston. Replacement: Glenn George.
* Lymm's under eights followed up their recent festival successes at Huddersfield, York and Cheshire by winning the prestigious Harrogate Super 10s Festival at the weekend.
Lymm defeated Yorkshire's finest clubs on their way to the final, including Harrogate, Sheffield and Cleckheaton, as well as Altrincham side Kersal.
By topping the group with an undefeated playing record, the boys went on to defeat Leeds' Yorkshire champions West Park 3-0 in a hard-fought final.
Only four tries were conceded throughout the competition and 26 were scored.
Lymm squad: George Hughes, Harvey Metcalfe, Joe Murphy, Alex Galloway, Neil Llewellyn, William Cauldwell, George Monaghan, Luke Diamond, James Sherlock.
