WARRINGTON'S newest policing inspector says he hopes to give something back to the town where he started his career 19 years ago.
Insp Andy Ross, pictured, who has taken over at Arpley Street Police Station in the town centre, is urging residents to contact him directly with any issues or concerns.
He has taken over as head of the central policing unit which covers areas such as Orford, Longford, Poplars and Hulme.
"I'm delighted to find myself in a role where I feel I can give so much back to the people of Warrington," he said. "I know how important it is to have a strong link with the community and I want to know what people think.
"I am keen to forge close links with residents so they feel confident in sharing information with me and my team. I want them to feel that they can approach me with any issues or concerns and that I will do everything I can to address them."
He spent the first 10 years of his career policing parts of the town, such as Risley, Birchwood and Culcheth before moving onto other roles.
He has worked at Inspector level for the past three years, being in charge of the policing of all the rugby events at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Insp Ross takes over from Inspector Alex Kane, who has moved to Cheshire Police's headquarters in Winsford to work on a project.

police.uk lRICHARD Reeves, the new policing inspector for the town centre, says he wants to change Warrington's image.
The 32-year-old worked in Northwich when he joined the force in 2000 and says he is ready for the challenge.
He added: "I'm really looking forward to the challenges of my new role and I want to work with members of the public and representatives from partner agencies to tackle the issues that are affecting the town centre.
"Warrington has a vibrant town centre and is a key commercial town. It is a shame that recently this has been overshadowed by the issue of the night-time economy.
"I really want to be involved in the policing of the town centre to help towards changing that image and to show Warrington off to its true potential.
"I love the vibrant buzz that you get working in a town centre - particularly at night - and I like the challenge that comes with that. If people feel good about the town centre then the effect of that is felt across the whole town."
