MISTAKEN identity may have led to an attack in which a pensioner was sprayed in the eyes.
The woman and her husband, both in their 60s, were at home, in Ightham Road, Erith, when there was a knock on the front door in the evening.
The woman answered the door and was confronted by two men. One immediately sprayed her in the eyes with a corrosive substance which has not been identified.
As she stood blinded, the man pushed her back into the hallway.
The two men followed her into the hall and one repeatedly shouted: Where are the guns? Where are the guns? Police believe at this point, the two men may have realised they were in the wrong house. They ran out of the front door, slamming it behind them.
The two men were dressed in dark clothing. The one with the spray was white, aged about 18, 5ft 6ins tall, slim and wearing a dark woolly hat and dark jacket.
