EXCITED teenage girls cheered as their hearthrob TV stars kicked off 50th anniversary celebrations at Moorfield Road playing fields in Widnes.
Hollyoaks Celebrity All Stars challenged Moorfield Select XI on Sunday and raised more than £900 for Penketh youngster Ethan Connolly.
"It was absolutely fantastic," said Margaret Jones of Moorfield FC.
"Hundreds of teenage girls turned up and went running onto the pitch as soon as the whistle blew.
"The Hollyoaks team was fantastic. They signed autographs and chatted to everyone."
Ten per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Alder Hey Children's home, Hollyoaks' charity.

The rest will be given to Ethan Connolly, a three-year-old boy, born with lymphatic malformation, a rare condition that causes facial disfigurement.
He watched the game with his mum and dad, Karen and Kevin.
"We'd like to thank the family for coming," said Margaret. "Ethan is an absolutely beautiful little boy, full of life with a big smile."
Ethan has to travel abroad for treatment because his condition is so rare.
