FEARS mount after police received a report of a woman in distress being forced into a car in Great Sankey.

At around 1.35am on Sunday, two vehicles were parked on Thornton Road near the junction of West Drive when an altercation occurred between two men and a woman.

One vehicle is described as an old grey hatchback and the other is described as a white Audi A3.

Police say the woman is believed to have been forced into the white vehicle before the driver travelled onto West Drive.

DC Jordan Trentini said: “We are currently trying to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and appealing for anyone who may have seen a woman in distress while getting into the vehicle.

“At this stage it is unclear what has exactly taken place and we just need to confirm that the woman is safe and well.

“I would like to reassure the community that we have received no further reports similar to this incident. If you have any information please call us on 101.”
