A SOLICITORS firm was evacuated on Friday afternoon after reports of an unknown substance being released.

Firefighters were called to Restons Solicitors in Centre Park at 3.50pm after reports that the substance had been released in a first floor locker room.

The building was evacuated and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet on the substance.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said crews could find no signs of gas or odours.

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for heat sources and ventilated the property before declaring it safe.

They were in attendance for more than an hour.
