AN extension to a car dealership in Orford has been approved despite concerns from residents.
Halliwell Jones Warrington on Ireland Street has been granted planning permission for a two-storey extension to the BMW and Mini showroom.
The 128sq m extension will provide additional administration space, but will not result in an increase in the number of people employed on the site.
Several Ireland Street residents had submitted objections to the scheme due to concerns over Halliwell Jones Warrington staff parking in residential areas.
In his written objection to Warrington Borough Council, resident Geoff Taylor said: “There is no thought given to occupiers of houses on Ireland Street.
“Currently, parking is difficult as Halliwell Jones do not have enough car spaces for their employees and their customers.
“The company must address the issue for residents, as this is impacting on their daily lives.
“Ireland Street is becoming hazardous, mainly due to the activities of Halliwell Jones.
“Further expansion with no thought to mitigating the effects this will have on Ireland Street residents will create real issues.”
