A PUB in Padgate is set for a major renovation.

Trust Inns has applied for planning permission from Warrington Borough Council for a range of refurbishments at the Stocks on Station Road.

The watering hole, which is currently vacant, would receive a timber canopy at its front entrance, a new roof infill and an additional entrance to the rear.

A new play area would be created outside while the beer garden would be extended, with plans also including a reconfiguration of the pub’s car park.

Planning documents state that the ‘very popular’ pub will receive a ‘fresh new look’ as part of the proposals.

The planning application adds: “The existing decoration is very dark and dull, and is in need of refurbishment as it has been neglected in recent years.

“The premises is owned by Trust Inns – and has been in their ownership for the past seven years – who wish to develop the property and progress the business with the intention of bringing a fresh approach both to the premises and management, to breathe new life into the property in order to give it a long-term future.”

A consultation on the plans runs until Thursday, August 30.
